Art therapy services for healing and health
The strength of the triangle
In art psychotherapy, the relationship between the client, their artwork and the therapist can be seen as triangular.
As the therapist, I observe the symbolism in your artwork and art-making process. And I use this as a foundation for the talking part of our sessions; it creates an organic opening for us to discuss what’s on your mind. Beginning to open up and talk can be nerve-racking. But using that third point of the triangle – the art – for us to look at and discuss together can help alleviate anxiety. Having the artwork also means we can look back at past sessions and create a narrative of your therapeutic work, and document your progress.
